  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the creamed mixture, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • These cookies can be decorated with icing or sugar if desired.
  • For a spicier cookie, increase the ground ginger by 1/2 teaspoon.
