  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then stir in the yeast. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover the pan and let it rise again until the dough has risen above the rim, about 30-45 minutes.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • For softer bread, consider adding an extra tablespoon of butter.
