Paula Deen Chicken Pot Pie

A delicious twist on classic chicken pot pie featuring turkey bacon for added flavor.

  • 1 pound cooked chicken, shredded
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook turkey bacon until crispy.
  3. Add onions and cook until translucent.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add chicken broth and bring to a boil while stirring.
  6. Add chicken, vegetables, and seasonings. Mix well.
  7. Fit one pie crust into a pie pan and fill with the chicken mixture.
  8. Cover with the second pie crust and cut slits for steam.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with a side salad for a complete meal.
  • Can substitute other vegetables as desired.
