French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole

A delicious and comforting casserole that combines the flavors of French onion soup with tender chicken and savory orzo, topped with crispy turkey bacon.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Gruyere or Swiss)
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup sliced onions
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, cook the orzo pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté sliced onions until caramelized.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked orzo, shredded chicken, French onion soup, sautéed onions, garlic powder, and half of the cheese. Mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and top with remaining cheese and crumbled turkey bacon.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit the chicken and turkey bacon.
